Commencement

The meeting kicked off at 3:45 PM with prayers by Alhaja Oshodi. After the chairman called the meeting to order. Minutes of the last meeting was read by members after which Rasheed Bakare moved for its adoption seconded by Alhaja Oshodi.

Matters Arising

I. Video of the School: Wasiu Hassan reported that as the representative of the Lagos branch, he attended the National meeting at Iwo. He reported that the meeting was not well attended because there was confusion as to the actual venue. Many people thought it would hold at Ibadan. He reported that two old students contributed money which will be used to refurbish the dining hall and purchase lawn mower. He also informed us that the issue of the final burial of Senator Kamoru Adedibu’s father was discussed. He brought a copy of the video of the state of the school. He went to Ibadan for a meeting and it was said that members were yet to pay condolence visit to the children/family of Late Lookman Busari, an old student. He also informed us that the child of the Late Lookman Busari will get married on the 40th. Day of prayer of Senator Adedibu’s father.
II. Opening of Account: Alhaja Raheemat Oshodi said that the account is yet to be opened because of the conditions that have to be met e.g. the constitution, Guarantor, Passport Photographs, NEPA bills etc. She however said that the money is intact. The chairman gave her the constitution and promised to furnish her with other requirements.
III. Retention of the Principal: Wasiu Hassan informed the meeting that the National Body has met on this matter and as written a letter to the Ministry of Education.
IV. Mobilisation of Members: Alhaji Shamsideen Olaotan (Jeje) was introduced as he came in for the first time. Mr. Akin Ajibade Hassan was also introduced.
V. Finance: The sum of N10, 000.00 was collected as contribution. It was stated that the balance at the end of July 2008 was N31,500.00 and N10,000.00 was approved by the chairman to supply food and drinks even though N12,500.00 was spent by Alhaja Aramide Jimson. Yomi Taiwo and Wasiu Hassan decided to offset the money spent on food by contributing N5,000.00 each. While Muheenat Alawode wants voluntary donation for food, the chairman was of the opinion that there is no way the purse will not be touched for entertainment. However, he said any contribution will be noted and appreciated.
VI. Development Levy:Wasiu Hassan wants us to identify the project to undertake. He equally wants to be serious about the collection of the Development Levy. He said that the dining hall is very important because it is used for examination. Rasheed Bakare wants us to levy each other N30,000.00 and pay piece meal. The chairman wants us to open an account first in which members will pay their levies. Members thereafter levied themselves as to how much each will contribute. It was however unanimously agreed that by November 2008 monthly meeting everyone must have redeemed their pledges which was read out by the chairman.

A.O.B.

When the chairman requested for the details of what happened at Senator Adedibu’s father’s 40th (day) prayer Ajoke Awonusi gave the details of what happened including photographs with the Senator and feasting at his personal house.
Rasheed Bakare informed the meeting that the Senator has agreed to sponsor two (2) persons to Mecca and two (2) persons to Jerusalem. He further stated that the Senator directed that 2 persons for Mecca and Jerusalem will come from Lagos. This information was confirmed by Alhaja Aramide Jimson.
Alhaja Daramola in her contribution wants a ballot system for who will be chosen for the holy pilgrimages. She also wants us to give the Senator N10,000 as our gift for the burial ceremony of his father. Waheed Hassan wanted to know why we did not contribute money at the occasion as agreed but Alhaja Aramide Jimson said she aborted asking for contribution because few people travelled for the ceremony from Lagos.
Yomi Taiwo’s birthday was marked by a birthday song. It was also agreed that the meeting will hold permanently for now at the centre provided by Wasiu Hassan.

Closing:

Mrs. Lawal A. A. moved for the adjournment, seconded by Wasiu Hassan. Mrs. A .A. Lawal said the closing prayer.
